NBOC Northeast Extreme Cooling BonanzaBy: GunnerI'll tell you we were tired. At least I was personally exhausted from lack of sleep and a lot of moving around. But, we said that we had to suck it up and drive over to Mike's house for some DICE action. We would not regret it.
DICE cooling commenced and we were certainly using quite a bit of the material. Brian was manning the GPU pot, which required some TLC in the form of crushing the DICE up with a hammer so it is able to fit inside the pot and then slowly feeding the activator. Mike on the other hand, was manning the CPU pot. He was able to use normal pellet sizing and I really thought the Koolance v1 pot did quite well.
We ran into some cold bugging on the 920 d0. Out came the hair drier but we had only one large time frame where we were waiting without a CPU ready to go. After we learned the bug point, we basically avoided a temperature drop in that area, and ran strong until the end. Without further ado, here are the results.
We could have done SO much more but we simply did not have the time. We spent most of our weekend building the single stage phase unit and only a small portion went to DICE cooling. However, we were able to get some nice results out of it, so the DICE sessions have to be considered a success. I certainly will be following up with much strong results in the future with whatever cooling I decide. |
